AMC inline 6. Been around in one form or another for like 50 years and is known for being slow and torquey but basically unkillable.

I Agree with this too. People like riding in my CJ because it feels a little wobbly and slow and generally makes the trip to the store an adventure rather than the same old drive. IF you cant hear each other, then you have to just enjoy the scenery, if its hot, take off the doors and be slightly less hot. If it rains,

Jeep gets a bad wrap for being unrelaible because DudeBros take a stock jeep, put 40s on it, and then snap an axle being reckless offroad. Sure youre in the shop a lot for Jeep repairs, but its because you beat the shit out of it, far more than other car brands. I think a lot of people who arent Jeep people also

Truth. Old men love to tell me that my CJ would walk all over these modern Jeeps. A stock CJ vs a Stock JK (2 doors to keep them apples to apples), and the JK would walk all over the CJ in almost all applications. I love my old CJ and I know its capable offroad, but in stock form, they just arent up to todays idea of

This is a good point. I wonder how many people who are jumping at a $500/mo 6 year loan arent putting away any retirement or for a house.

Its truly astonishing how much people spend. $500 a month is bananas. I spend quite a lot on rent to live alone, so my budget is a little different than most people, but I still cant see how people budget for that much a month in addition to rent. I make over 50k and it seems like picking up a $500/mo car payment is

If i remember correctly, that too was debunked, as they had put sand bags in the wheel wells to make it roll over, and even then it was tough to do.

I think it all works as a overly aggressive counter to the Ghias loveley softness. The camper shell thing is just...off. Its the only straight lines and they jar horrible with the rest of it. I think if you could soften out that a bit and get it cleaned up it would rule.

This whole image is wild. Like is that a D200 Mega Cab, but weirdly more boxy? or is it a square-body 4 door. Either way, it seems weird and rare.

I added a Bluetooth amplifier to my CJ7, under the hood. No head unit, Pandora from my phone, and its marine grade so it can handle the abuse. A windshield phone mount and It’s basically a new Wrangler.

I almost added the 4-runner,its definitely a good rugged SUV now too, but it feels a little too refined maybe? I feel like they just don’t look that rugged? Prolly a weird qualifier? Lol

I think it speaks volumes to how far off the modern SUV is from what a large portion of users want. The fact a basically stock bronco or blazer can bring 15-20k still and restored ones bring 2-3x that surely means there is a market for a modern, rugged SUV. The JL is about the only choice you have these days.

Good Luck, the K-5 shown here was a short lived body style with a newer K-5 being much boxier and not near as refined looking. These gems are priceyyyy. Not that I look all the time or anything...

For my CJ, its gotta be the “TeamRush Upgrades”compiled by JeepHammer over at the JeepForum. He lays out the first 10 or so steps to getting an old CJ up and running and saved me hours and hours of troubleshooting.

Indeed.

I have half doors on my CJ (soft) and I just never put the top on the doors. Its nice to use them as an armrest and here in Texas I rarely need the tops on for weather. My Dads TJ has the half doors and I really hate those. The windows are somehow less rigid than my wireframe soft doors.

The Porsche community will restore nothing more than a handful of bolts. Thats a prestige brand for sure, but Jeeps have a prestige in the offroad community as well. The old Wagoneers are worth their (considerable) weight in gold now. The ZJs may well rise to that level, especially something like this, which appeals

I drive a mostly stock CJ-7 and legitimately have guys y dads age offer me $10-$15k for it with some regularity. Sure, the old jeeps are more iconic, but theyre also the cars those guys drive when they were younger. Younger folks that drove the ZJs will look back on them with strong nostalgia and the market will show

Sure, but thats the market now. Jeeps have forever been a vehicle type for modding and beating on, meaning true originals are going to be ultra rare someday. Will that market ever be huge? No idea. But a lot of cool cars now were not cool a few years ago. (looking at you, all of AMC)

I said this same thing above. I think a SBC form factor would allow lots of aftermarket guys to keep the same parts viable as we transition into EV being the savior of classics. We are a long way from stopping burning fuels, but I think its gonna be so much more efficient to go EV in the near future most people will
