Micronauts. They were like legos, but the building blocks were arms, legs, heads, and actual projectile-shooting bits. I had just about every Micronaut toy, and I invented dozens of stories about their adventures without ever knowing the comic book existed. Sadly, my mother gave them away when I went to college.

As a kid there was the era of the Lincoln Logs followed by the era of the Erector set.

Awesome. I had that stuff, and the big giant moon station.

LEGO, both in general and particularly the Technics car. I have always reckoned that LEGO has been and will be one of the few toys to stand the test of time. There will always be kids who like to build things.

Breyer horse models. I got my first one about 1975, a beautiful Belgian draft horse. Not only could Chessie pull enormous weights, he was a fantastic racer (won the Triple Crown, of course) and jumper. Not bad for a draft horse.

I spent hours playing with Lincoln Logs, Lego and a skyscraper construction set that I can't remember the name of. That may have had some connection to me eventually getting a degree in civil engineering.

Capsela. Just the best. Unfortunately only available in Japan these days. I had to buy it on ebay for my kids.
