A guy who doesn’t work can definitely play his way out of a sport. But according to everyone I’ve known who was involved at the pro level (not that many, but still...), every single one of the guys on the roster was The Man at every step from little league through college or minors.  Talent wins every time.

What’d they expect? It’s like Boston.

I love his drama beard almost as much as I love a response that’s better than the original comment

I’ve never stood in a line for a bathroom at Disney. If there’s one thing they do well, it’s provide plentiful shitters. Though I’d rather stand in line for a bathroom than for a character meet and greet. At least at the end of the line at the bathroom, you get a sense of relief.

Maybe he confused it with "Fury Road."

Maybe, but he might as well be yelling at the ocean.

The embedded video starts at 1:03 instead of the beginning. How do you guys keep doing this?

The reason this is dumb is not that he’s wrong about most movies being samey; it’s that it’s not a new criticism, has always been true of movies, and has always been true of all media of any kind. Making innovative art is hard, has always been hard, and will always be hard; people generally want art like the art

I get what he’s saying, and even agree with him to an extent, but, like, who cares? I simply don’t bother with films that don’t appeal to me. I’m not out there saying all films should be what I want them to be.

“I understood that reference.”

Ok.

They don’t have to cover his whole life, just how he comes back from Vietnam with a code, then goes on the job with a crooked police force and starts down the slippery slope. We see him make compromise after compromise as the job eats away at his moral compass, all while trying to raise his son to be a better man then

Ma’am? Ma’am? Excuse me...I’m sorry, ma’am? It’s just that...you...uh...Ma’am, there’s something...you’ve got...on your...right there on your...

Yes. The Mike character has a great backstory and begs to be told.

I didn’t find it offensive except on a storytelling level.  That scene alone convinced me this movie was going to be some combination of treacly and horribly unfunny.  I’m still having trouble reconciling the trailer with this review.

I would watch Ventimiglia in Young Mike Mostly-Honest Cop

Mad Men is the kind of show that might just be too much to live up to. The odds of doing an entirely separate project that succeeds on that many levels have to be overwhelmingly negative.

But how will his creepy son get acting roles now?

“They gave me a chihuahua?!”
