The amazing thing about reading this is seeing just how much impact Fahey had on everyone he worked with, the heights that everyone reached within the industry (was so great to see some familiar names), and how unanimous everyone is on Fahey being the true essence of Kotaku.

Yeah, I’ve been taking the time to go into the anime backlog since seasonal anime’s been incredibly weak as of late due to COVID, too many sequels for shows I haven’t watched, or just typical formulaic anime (isekai, etc) appearing every season.

I feel like treating this as a more of a novelty helped temper my expectations for this. I think the VR experiences for BOTW and Mario Odyssey are really neat ideas, but it is quite clear that you can only do so much to make VR work for the Nintendo Switch as it is now.

Games as a Service is more or less the new wave in larger game development, because of the successes of other live-service games like Fortnite. There’s value in creating ongoing games, rather than one-and-done projects, so that’s why publishers/developers are moving to that model. It’s funny you mention Kickstarter

Well, when there’s money on the line, some people are gonna scheme real hard for it.

Wish I gave HQ Trivia a shot, but my phone’s incompatible.

Man, it’s crazy seeing Fortnite reach this unimaginable level of popularity considering its lengthy development and stumbling out of the gate at launch. Battle Royale really saved it.

The 16-year-old student reportedly told authorities that, “We increased our views and got advertising money.”

The sad video with their kids and Tanaka’s kid calling for a thai kick was the most I’ve ever laughed in ages. I really should rewatch some of the older batsu games.
