Scary Movie 3 had some of the best Airplane!-level gags I’ve seen seen in a comedy movie, like the sherrif’s hat getting larger every time they cut to her, or the shovel getting cocked like a shotgun and ejecting a shell. There’s also the part where the entire plot hinges on the aliens being fans of Pooty Tang.

The biggest trick Bay played is convincing the military leadership to allow him to lend him their toys. His movies glorify the soldiers, but often has a dimmer view of the people giving them orders. You can see this from The Rock all the way to his Transformers movies.

Studios need to learn that actors and directors don’t sell tickets anymore. Neither Chris Hemsworth nor Chris Evans, for example, have much financial success outside of their Marvel movies.

WB is bigger than superhero movies, you know. Right now they have multiple billion dollar franchises: Harry Potter, Kong/Godzilla Monsterverse, The Conjuring, and the DC movie universe.
