Yes, but they are actual coordinates in one key scene in the film.

You don't have NASA's budget. Oh wait, no even they don't have NASA's budget :(

They should have sent a hot alien to investigate.

Recent? It's always been like that. Even 2001 got some things wrong about space travel.

Ignoring science has been a staple of cinema a long time. At least the movie turned out good otherwise:

I'm going to spoil one thing for you. The aliens in this film never invented guns, or even bows and arrow. They also apparently never invented radar.

I love those parts. I wonder if the actual military might try using it. You know, just in case (their radars got jammed, not aliens).

I agree with the other replies below. But I would also like to add the aliens in this film are surprisingly ethical. When they sunk one of the destroyers early on, they let the only surviving ship rescue the survivors while retreating. They also ignore most civilian targets and try to avoid hurting non-combatants.

It is pretty good.

The best review of the film.

To be fair, Battleship is more grounded in reality. Not hard sci-fi reality, mind. A few things are still fantastical. I think it is the side effect of Peter Berg's devotion to all things military.

Adjustment Bureau bad? News to me.

How is that relevant?
