GameCube was a great one for me too. So many fun memories and awesome hits. With a 2015 line up like that, I can see the Wii U getting back to profit.

Same here. I was using my reciever to upscale 480p to 1080p and while it looked really good, it still felt limited by the hardware to me. I also recently tried Xenoblade on my Wii U, which automatically upscales Wii games to 1080p. Again, really good but limited.

Well the original 480p down to the 3DS's 360i isn't a major and noticible downgrade, especially since you're viewing the resolution in a smaller screen. I didn't know that the 3D halves the resolution. The games I played on the 3DS with the effect turned on look just as good if not better than 2D.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. :P

Great. This is how it should be done in order to improve things around here. A call for anti-vitriol. While it may not be immediately impactful, this can at least try to have people find solutions to filter out hate and encourage constructive criticism. It's still a huge climb though. The internet is known for having

Excellent, excellent interview. Top notch questions. This is what I love to see! Some great curveballs, some nice frank questions. Sakaguchi was also a champ in trying to be as frank as possible without burning bridges with Square and not giving too much away. It's nice that he's happy with what he's doing even though

Sad that this is the case. While Google Plus had a few advantages like the character limit being raised to allow big posts with constructive criticism, it also brought it a ton of compromises with spam post and self-serving advertisements, with unsafe links and the like. The new Plus system has helped me immensely

I really hope the game isn't too compromised. I can see this being a realistic 1:1 game on the New 3DS models with faster clock speeds, but it really depends on who is handling the port. If it's Monolith themselves or the dudes who ported Donkey Kong Country Returns to the 3DS, then I'm very hopeful that it turns out

If that's the case the majority of the time, this is at least acceptable and won't divide the market. Pokemon XY was indeed choppy, but playable nonetheless. As long as there's compatability and games don't get too choppy on the original 3DS, then I can see customers not getting pissed. But if in the long run Nintendo

Yeah good point. I didn't mean it like that but I understand why you and others can easily misread my comment. It can easily be interpreted in that fashion. I was rushed when I wrote that. Indeed, the GameCube wasn't on top. But I'm hopeful that the Wii U will at least make them profitable again. They really don't

Admittedly, this reminds me of the awesome GameCube days when it was just one big hit after another. Sometimes, the only way to rise to the top is to get backed into a corner, and that's what's happening to the Wii U right now, not unlike the GameCube. All of the initial 2015 line-up are Nintendo developed and/or

Here's what I see. If you generalize a mass audience, then you're looking for trouble in the internet. If you're looking for hate snd vitriol in the internet, you'll find them in droves. It's a vicious cycle. Lesson of the day, don't generalize and don't dig for hate because you won't get anywhere. You'll get even

Good write up. I pretty much feel the same way regarding the update. All these minor tweaks plus a sneak peak at DLC show that Nintendo's listening. That being said, I'm baffled that they haven't announced any full fledged battle mode DLC packs and tweaks since this has been the major critique of the game across the

Yeah, in Japan, it might not matter much. But how about internationally? I fear that this may cause a lot of confusion if we get physical cart releases which only work with the latest 3DS hardware revision. At least with the DSi, you can play all your older DS games in addition to new exclusive digital releases. You

There's a difference between what happened back then between the GBA and DS and what's going on now with the 3DS1 and 3DS2. If you recall back in the day, the intention of the original Nintendo DS release is creating a third platform for Nintendo in addition to the Game Boy Advance and GameCube. They saw the DS as a

Smart idea to address the concerns. There's been a ton of horror stories since the original Nintendo DSi including that recent linked story for the 3DS family. Having a nominal fee and parental control for locking such activity was way overdue. 30 cents isn't a price that adults should be in uproar about if they want

I wasn't necessarily targeting space concerns. Xenoblade is a huge, huge console JRPG. Having that to run fine on a 3DS while keeping quality control on the graphics is extremely tough if not impossible. Although now I realize how they will able to maintain that. When I originally wrote my reply, the Kotaku post

Really? Much to my knowledge, DS games work equally in both the original DS line and the DSi with no enhancements in graphics or clock speeds between the hardware. But as you mentioned, there are a few games which did have DSi-specific features in gameplay like camera functionality and whatnot.

My initial reply had me surprised that it will run on the 3DS since it's a massive game...but the post was vague at first. I was also uninformed of the new 3DS faster clock speeds and the fact that Xenoblade will be exclusive to the new line. Now with all that coming to play, it makes sense.
