This is the opposite of a live service game business model. They are just throwing out free updates all the time. It doesn’t lend itself to sustainable growth. The fact that it is still going on boggles my mind. There can’t possibly be enough people still buying this everyday to keep it going.

I have no idea how Hello Games is making money, though. As far as I can tell, saying “this is how you do a live service game” is really just saying “continually give me major new expansions for free, and don’t monetize the game via MTX, so basically just perpetually lose all the money you made from initial sales until

They added a storymode called the Artemis Path many, updates ago.  Took me about 50 hours to complete it but you can do it much quicker if focused.  It was pretty decent honestly.

Waiting for that one commenter who defends Star Citizen with tooth and nail in 3…2…1…

No different than NG+ really.  There was a long-term goal here.  Once I reached it I almost completely quit playing tbh.  I’ll go back at some point but I usually only play when I’m between game releases as it’s a super relaxing game.

Weird how caring about your project makes something better for the players than the companies that spend time trying to find ways to milk every penny from the people playing the game.

I think Ari’s criticism of the worldbuilding may be vague because it’s premised on execution in an embargoed part of the game. I *suspect* the issue is that late in the game, characters just start infodumping huge amounts of worldbuilding on Aloy in an unentertaining way, as opposed the the masterful balance struck in

I don’t really understand the author’s world building criticism either. One of the attractions of this series is “Robot Dinosaurs” so it makes total sense that a huge part of the game is discovering “Why robot dinosaurs.”

Let’s not forget Rogan’s blatant transphobia. This guy is such a piece of shit. I have a funny feeling he’s not going to apologise for that. Anyway, Fuck Rogan.

Man, entitled gamers strike again. Just because they *paid* for a *video game* they expect actual progress and updates towards that game being completed.  What entitled babies.

You know what’s distracting? All the spammy emails they keep sending, especially the ones where they’re trying to hawk some massively overpriced spaceship

NO!

I think the current situation it that it’s known that Jobst is friends with a white supremacist, but he doesn’t share the guy’s views? I’m sorry, I couldn’t get through his defense video because his constant use of the word “cancelled” puts him in the same league as Dave Chappelle and Roseanne Barr.

If anyone wants to write a browser extension that lets me know when I’m consuming content from racists, I’d appreciate it.

That’s exactly what I was going to say. In a world where so many people double-, triple-, and quadruple-down on their ignorant comments and selfish actions (e.g., the Ice Poseidon story from yesterday), this is the most refreshing and humble thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Just toss a coin in the morning and take it from there. Or always assume internet personalities are bad - you’ll hit way more than you’ll miss (and quite a few of those misses will become hits some time in the future).

That’s... actually one of the more gracious ways to admit cheating I’ve ever seen. Admitting, deleting all the fake stuff, and paying back the money. Deleting the socials is probably a wise decision for his own sake. More people should do that regardless of admission of guilt.

“Hey! We’re going to let horde and alliance play together! It definitely doesn’t have anything to do with us hemorrhaging users and losing huge chunks of our raiding community! Definitely not that at all!”

To The Root - stop posting this jackass rogan and giving him energy and a platform.

Half-baked Alex Jones ignores the Virginia under the Racial Integrity Act of 1924 (One Drop Rule) and its 110 year history to question why AAs assimilate and take control of a term meant to dehumanize/marginalize them.
