At the start of the pandemic I bought some as a way to keep my hair up at home since I could now look like a mess most of the time. I too thought them a product of a bygone era - better for soccer moms. But now you can pry them from my cold, dead, hands.

McNuggets are trash food. I miss being able to eat trash food (Celiac here. I never thought I’d miss McNuggets, but sometimes the craving still hits, and these sound like the right kind of ‘crappy day need nostalgia food’ spot)

Jerry Seinfeld dated a high schooler at age 38.

Think of the muumuu! Once a derided garment fit for plus size women who were homebound - just the same to now be an influencer garment. I remember once being aghast at plus size dresses, now there are more options, but the ‘old’ ones (read, super comfy but unflattering?) are now chic for superthin white girls.

and bring their revolution outside of the cities

On a side note, I’ve got that 1939(!) article. Nothing about spitting five times for an enemy tho....

I never followed him before seeing him on SNL this (?) season, but I def have a thing for his vibe. Same thing I have for Klaus in Umbrella Academy actually....

I also think it’s really hard for some people to be able to joke about politics. I’m guessing Widow’s daily life as a big, black, gay drag queen in KCMO doesn’t give her the breathing space to be able to joke about it. Sometimes there’s a freedom in being the weirdo in a small town, or having a robust community of

In college, my friends and I would always write,

My husband is distinctly not from America, and sometimes things mildly throw him off in tv shows. I've never before pondered how strange Spirit Weeks are until now. You'd think more people would mention that.

Soft boy = man in touch with emotions, oft one who likes romances

It’s also that WIC is an intentionally broken system. Ideally, it’d be overseen by DHHS, but it’s not. My students are surprised when I tell them it’s the fucking Department of Ag. Most of my students have been on WIC in one form or another. When you’re focused on how it’s feeding you, you’re not paying attention to

I feel like Community did too though - smarter than thou lawyer; overachieving A student; sassy black mom; weird kid; dumb jock; and overly involved protester. Those are all kinda tropes too, but it built. Having just re-watched all six seasons, growth really happened.

I don't think Cody is quite as sociopathic as Keith Rainere. The head of NXIVM is more able to beguile people to follow him - Cody can't get anyone to follow him for shit. QAnon influencer - maybe. Definitely a member of The Proud Boys.

I sounds like it could've used a framing device - something like these three women meeting up present day somewhere. Like Lost Girls but with less sex.

I think what made it worse to me too was the fact that everyone around them is telling them that it’s not ok, that there’s a reason these relationships aren’t done, etc. - but then we’re sold it as a sweet romance. It’s nice and all, but again, it feels too much like any show that makes a teacher/student relationship

Ughhhhhh.......

I will say, to my understanding fences don’t work too well against feral hogs. But yeah - spraying the area your kids are playing in with bullets...doesn’t make much sense.

The abuse thing really bothered me. Not just because it was the first time it’s been mentioned, or that it happened so quickly, but rather that it felt like it was feeding into the stereotype that LGBTQ+ folx have sustained some kind of trauma to “make”us this way. It might not have quite as much traction as the "gay

I love this and all the other stories below. In the world we live in these days, it’s always nice to have my heart feel full.
