I'm kind of honestly asking: would it be shitty of me to say that I'm not at all surprised that this was written by Theodore Melfi? St. Vincent, Hidden Figures, and now this…he toes the line between cheesy/cliche/lazy-ish and thoughtfully sincere a lot (masterfully so in Hidden Figures), so it's not surprising to see

Oh, and don't leave your popcorn when you close the tab, it's a total dick move.

That and Anton's scene with Carson (Woody Harrelson's character) in Carson's hotel room…I could dissect that scene alone for years. Such an incredible film.

Wasn't that scene an accident? I could have sworn I read something about real choking occurring during that scene.

I was but a wee lad of 6-10-ish in that time, and even though some of the movies have found their way to me (the Universal Soldier films in particular), I'm sure there will be a lot of gold for me to mine. Thank you again for showing and discussing such great (or, as in the case of Michael Bay's work, at least

Wow, how depressing. On the plus side, this would be a great place to shoot post-apocalyptic movie scenes, so yay for that?

Can I just honestly and earnestly say how much I love this column? I'm a young guy (21) and have been putzing around since high school got out (was in a band, we got moderately successful, all agreed that it wasn't really what we wanted to do, here we are) and I only recently discovered my love of filmmaking. I've

I know, man, but it still hurts :(

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Just a liiiiitle bit salty that Dennis Villeneuve didn't get Best Director. La La Land was fun and all, but I don't think the directing took it to new heights.

I was donating plasma earlier today and they had 22 Jump Street playing on the TVs to help kill time. She is such a great deadpan actress, and I'm really glad she's keeping busy because goddamn is she hilarious.

I'm in that weird spot where I still disagree with the general notion but I can't say I disagree with your logic. Carry on, friend, for those of us too awkward to call her a shriveled harpy.

Well…you made a witty deflection, but it's still shitty to mock her appearance.

Truly, no one (wo)man should have all that power.

Goddamn, this was savage (and also Savage, because Dan would pen something just as snarky if given the chance). Great work, daughter!

Really? Of all the sites and article topics, you chose an AV Club piece about a movie series based on a popular comic book arc to say that people shouldn't dissect pop culture?

Laaaa, laaa la

No, but this did say it's a follow-up, which it's not. How did I learn that, you don't ask? From an AV Club article, I answer regardless! What a co-wink-a-dink!

I love AV Club comments most of the time since they set the bar for witty (and now they'll do the same with humorous self-deprecation in response to this), but I'm unpleasantly surprised to see all the condescension here. Sure, everyone's taste is subjective, but the movie was commercially successful and critically
