The AV Club
I have an insatiable appetite to watch this movie again.
Medicare for All, y'all.
Too bad. Kind of surprising she went all acoustic since her last couple albums had plenty of electric. Maybe TNP told her she had to dial it back though so she wouldn't upstage them. ; )
Yeah, apparently hangovers and chronic sleep deprivation only affect you at the level of personality, not the body itself. Lol.
That show was batshit stupid but I'll be damned if it wasn't pretty enjoyable. I was sad that it got canned.
Be sure to catch Waxahatchee too!!!
Pétanque.
Seeing PJ Harvey tonight in the ATX. Sorry to everyone who is not.
I will grant that it does sound kind of dumb. But linguistics is so cool that if it helps draw people in then maybe it could be a good thing.
Lol. I just went and looked at your Lilith Fair lineup again and I see Mannequin Pussy is on there. Guess you know what's up, haha. I'm gonna have to check out the others on there that I'm not familiar with.
Maybe so. I think in theory it could have some worthwhile stuff if it included some background and basics for the field of linguistics. Whether it actually does or not, I have no idea, but I imagine it probably would.
Well in that case you are correct.
Cool I'll have to check them out. On a related topic, have you heard Mannequin Pussy? Different sound but plenty of yelling. I'm listening to their album from last year and it's really good.
Thank you for reminding me about The Blow! I think I heard just a little bit of them a while back and really liked them but then I kind of forgot to seek out more of their stuff.
Also who gives a shit about linguistics? I can't see how that would possibly be useful. Everyone should just speak English.
I was really ready to love this album, but alas I think Sylvan Esso will stay in the 'like but don't love' category for me, at least this time around.
Yeah they're very different but you can kind of detect threads connecting the two in her vocal style, if you're looking for it. I was surprised to find out that was her background but also it kind of made a ton of sense, haha.
I guess you probably know that Mountain Man was the Appalachian roots trio that the singer from Sylvan Esso was in (or at least you do if you read the same pitchfork review I did). They're really good though! But I also really like that kind of music.
Good stuff. Twilight Galaxy and Stadium Love are really good tracks. I swear I've heard Gold Guns Girls before but couldn't say where.
