That list is short. It’s not even a list if you include the “being a creeper” arm of sexual assault. There are a lot of untoward behaviors that are cultivated in traditional male rites of passage. I believe Borgohuis laid it out plainly in an earlier post.

Every time I hear a woman recount one of these horrible experiences, I think about how many other women are afraid or ashamed enough that they keep their own rapes to themselves. I also wonder what people think when they come to these monster’s defense. We live in a fucked up world.
As well he should. Truthfully, it shouldn’t ever come to that, but a lot of dudes think they are entitled to women.
I apologize for the offense. I just wanted to highlight that it is a very popular narrative that “it’s only unwanted if the male is unattractive.” I’m not excusing anyone’s behavior. I just know that some folks will rationalize it as such.

Lord knows it was just a few weeks ago that no one would take them seriously and they would get dragged by strangers at the mere mention that some shit went down. Hopefully, before the news cycle resets, enough of these shitbags get taken…
The problem is that the people who use these instances to deny racism were NEVER GOING TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. They weren’t gonna be like, “I was just about to stop being racist, but this one thing gave me pause. Oh well.”
How about you just drop the pretense and say the truth in your heart.
Thing is, it doesn’t matter if this asshole WAS the hottest thing or not, it’s still just as wrong. I know people who think that “the guy not being attractive enough” is the line that separates flirting from abuse.
For those who may be wondering why reports of abuse like this are everywhere right now, there is a simple explanation.
Pissed. This only allows people to deny when things really happen like this. This guy is a shit-stain.
In this instance, “investigate” is whitespeak for. “Stop complaining about it, we’ll pull him into the back until you forget about it, then resume business as usual.”
