Japan hosted the Olympics in 1998 dude. Pretty sure everything went fine.
My eyes rolled into the back of my head. I know people who post in Ashcraft threads are Japanophiles who think the country is superior in every way and surrounded by unwashed savages, but get a grip. Think about how much money and time you need to go to the Olympics. Think about who is going (the vast majority are…
Serious question. How did the tourists behave during the previous Japanese olympics?
Old Japanese guy on Kinja...?
The world doesn’t stop turning just because the developers didn’t have their patch ready for review.
It’s beyond bizarre, however, that they’re choosing to market the game with the social allegory stuff (which will be good or bad only in the full context of the way that the game presents it) and not “you’re a cool cyborg and you can sneak around an do stuff.”
There are more planets in this game than the entire playerbase could discover and name in their whole lifetimes, if I’ve understood the orders of magnitude correctly.
The likelyhood of you landing on the same planet as someone else is very, very small.
Yes because we want reviews to be rushed out and poorly thought through in order to be “FIRST!”. Embargoes allow for an even playing field, giving reviewers ample time to thoroughly play through and analyze the game. I for one appreciate getting a heads up beforehand if a game is going to be awesome or not, knowing…
But Skyrim isn’t using random procedural generation outside of random encounters.
Skyrim though was made with the last generation in mind, once we see the remaster it’ll likely be larger as the assets will be uncompressed. I’ve never seen a triple AAA PS4 title with under a 25 Gb install size before and this is around 6 gb with most being audio. Unless the generation engine is VERY advanced I have…
Mild and appalling are not antonyms. Also, I don’t get how you read this and think he isn’t calling it sexist.
To be entirely fair, the trailers were clearly trying to make it look like this would be their Guardians of the Galaxy, so my guess is people expected a lot more comedy. Dark comedy, maybe, but comedy.
This whole thing sounds like the origin story of a not particularly interesting supervillain.
That rings really false to me, “gaming Nirvana, etc, etc.” This isn’t a game where your friends can ruin anything for you; everyone will experience the game as if there was no one else playing it. I really don’t want to bring up the “waste of money” argument b/c I recognize it’s flawed and hypocritical, but god damn…
Huh... so thats what its like to be in the mind of “that guy”
It’s a procedurally generated game so it’s not like he’s posting cutscenes or ruining a story, so who cares? Not to mention the devs, because hey- this just serves to generate even more buzz. Also, people would have to choose to watch it, so the only people “spoiled” are those who chose to be.
It was good at hype....It was also good at pretending that Shinji Mikami is the only one that developed some Resident Evil games, even though there was an entire team at Capcom that worked together....It might not have helped that they felt the need to develop it for every console....
I agree with you 100% Stef. You’ve articulated it much better than I’ve been able to in the past.
