Bernie’s statement about Putin’s “regrets” are about as connected to reality as Gerald Ford’s statement about Poland was.

So he’s basically being punished for not going to the trouble to slightly rewrite press releases so they are not direct pastes. The effect would have been the same. A lot of sports reporting is taken from press releases. At lower levels, player and coach quotes come from press releases. Is that plagiarism if you don’t

It was more than Adderall. He drank and drugged his way out of football in a hurry

To use the fashionable sports phrase, it’s the body of work you have to look at.

Smelling like booze at inappropriate times makes it a pretty sure thing. Shots before noon with colleagues around sounds like maintenance drinking. And the sheer numbers of prodigious bar tabs, ones often including shots, are a flag.

It’s bad enough that my boss sees mine (although generally I can’t expense just drinks).

Yes, it and some labor law probably apply. But it would be moot if they fired him the way other head coaches are fired—paying off his contract.

I noticed it but can’t be sure. It might be an illusion created by the fold of the jersey.

Picture of Ranger goalie looking small by today’s standards shows how huge shoulder pads and gloves have become.

People generally have more of an issue with non-jocks as analysts. Those guys are play by play.

A lot of the fans in the expensive section last night were disguised as empty seats.

They didn’t fuck him over. They played by the rules agreed to by the players. Those rules provide many financial benefits to the players too. This is not at all comparable to Clemente. And if they had brought him up earlier, he’d still want every dime he could get. They all do.

The Cubs didn’t “screw” anyone. That’s how the CBA works, and both sides will exercise their rights under it.

I am no master of the rulebook, but yeah, I knew this rule.

This happened because of the NFL’s absurd allowance for a runner fumbling in the end zone and being awarded a touchdown because the play is over when the ball “crosses the plane.” It allows players to lunge for progress they could not do anywhere else on the field. In this case, he fumbled about a foot too early. The

Well, you of the insult and exclamation point seem more worked up than Jennie Lee. I admit I don’t understand what you are saying about league rules or doing what other teams do; I didn’t mention either. I just observed that it is nonsensical to put Jr or II or Sr after a surname.

Thanks for the brilliant advice. You do what other teams do, put the first initial before the name—two initials if need be. If you didn’t know Steve Smith had a son with his name, the Sr wouldn’t help you know which Smith he was, anyway. That is not why they put the Sr on the jersey..

It is stupid enough that NFL and college teams have taken to put Jr, II, and III after players’ last names on jerseys (if your name is Bill Jones Jr., your last name is Jones, not Jones Jr—though you are Bill Jr.). But “Smith Sr” takes it to a new level of absurdity. Is this so we can distinguish him from his child?

I think he said just her first name.

Where is Rush, whose base is exclusively fanboys?
