Is it me or does anyone else notice that the comments on Jezebel have been disappointing lately? Maybe the newish format of "popular discussions" and "all replies" is changing the way people use the comments, but whatever it is I'm not feeling engaged or inspired much lately. It's bad enough that so many people

I was thinking pretty much the same thing. At the same time I was thinking that since Comedy Central has built up a base of viewers who support the current lineup this new format might be a good segue into a more diverse lineup. It's kind of shitty to think that even a liberal viewer base might be less likely to watch

Granted, it's a pretty good image. I think most people who reply to trollish comments are just looking for an excuse to unleash one of the great zingers they've been hoarding.

I'm sorry but why is anyone paying attention to this desperate troll? Someday I'd like to see a purposely inflammatory comment like this be answered with complete silence and indifference.

She looks like a coma patient that someone propped up in bed. How embarrassing. This is their interpretation of a culture? What an insult.

Thank god I'm past the age where all my friends are getting married for the first time.

Saying that vegans/kind mamas have a lower rate of postpartum depression is not the same as victim-blaming other women for being suicidal. And calling her "hysterical" for criticizing vaccination schedules seems uncalled for, especially when she also noted that there have been no studies backing up the negative

I guess the rat was luckier than you. Or, I guess you were lucky he didn't bite the rat and then bite you.

Thanks for sharing. My incident didn't change my relationship with my cat - it was so much like being attacked by a wild animal that I don't even associate it with him that much in my memory. Hearing your story does make me wonder if this episode with my cat might be just the first with more to come. While sweet,

I hate to encroach in your area of expertise....but I have personal experience in this area. What happened with this cat is actually fairly common and you can read about it on the ASPCA website. It's called Redirected Agression, and it happened to my cat a few weeks ago. I'm still recovering from the incident after

Oh, that's weird. As soon as I posted that reply the cat photo appeared.

Me too. It's been looking like this for the last 5 minutes:

Great article. I just want say however, that growing up in the 1980's or later hasn't necessisarily exposed people to more faith-testing tragedy than people who grew up in past generations. Consider people born in the early 1900's - they lived through 2 world wars with millions of people dead and entire regions

On the Internet there is no hedge.

I grew up similarly: hippie parents who were non-believers. In my case the parents were raised Mormon. It was awkward for me both in public school and at family reunions - being a non-bliever, that is. I've never felt the need to get together with others and discuss my absence of belief though. I think that athiest

"Many people who grew up with religion miss the community aspects of church-going"

That's what they call a backhanded compliment.

WTF. there are a number of these out there. What I want to know is what happened 15 years ago that caused so many people to do time-lapse videos of their kids? This was so planned an took a LOT of effort.

I'd like to hear from those children, too. I actually know two African American women who were adopted by white families. One grew up in a family with multiple adopted kids and biological kids. She never expressed any feelings of discomfort with her upbringing other than unlike most adopted kids she couldn't go
