She says that the recruiters liked her best with curly hair because she was more comfortable in her natural state. Doesn't this statement work against her point? The story implies that people judge you by your hair alone, and yet she's summing it up by saying that it's all in her head (not on it - ha!)

@FourInchHeels: I ditto that. Beautiful hair is in the eye of the beholder (not literally.)

@diehausfrau: It's really interesting the amount of gray area when it comes to sex and gender. What medical science doesn't know about even the physical side of it is pretty huge.

@lurkystars: Gad zooks! Why did I have to Google that?!

@greensprout: The Paralympics is for people with physical disabilities.

@Canuck.Viking: Special Olympics? You've got to be kidding, right?

@whoneedslight: hopefully that's because their clothes are not made in sweatshops. I've always been suspicious of the VS prices.

Also notice how the Athleta models have muscles and the photos emphasize that. The VS models look like they'd get tiered out eating a grape.

I have a sore spot for this kind of imagery. Depressing to see it in an "educational" environment. First of all, can we quit with the caveman/hunter obsession? Roughly 80% of their diet was gathered food - fruits, nuts, etc, that the women collected. Men taking their spears to go out a kill a large animal was fairly

@andBegorrah: Can you believe they canceled that shit? I rented the whole thing at once and watched every precious moment in awe. Afterwards I had such a filthy mouth for the next few weeks. Swingen cocksucker!

@ronaldpagan: Pube! I'm totally going to ad that to my vocab. Hi-larious!

I use it too frequently, myself. I have always hated the use of feminine words or attributes being used as insults for guys. Like when a coach will refer to his players as "ladies" - to me that's saying "women are inferior"

@paperbackwriter: I was thinking the same thing, especially when I got to the part where it reads, "that new chick Sadie Stein is a pretty addition" - I mean, come on, "chick"? and what is the relevance of her being "pretty"? If this isn't a joke, how could a regular reader of a blog covering women's issues be that

Mmmmm...what big teeth you have, Willem.

@lydia_gwilt: What concerns me about the post is the inference that she not a feminist because she hasn't done enough. To begin with, I don't know that she's trying to promote herself as a feminist, so I'm not sure why her feminism is being called into question.

@SisterMaryMartha: What makes you say she "clearly doesn't like herself"? I don't see anything in the Esquire piece that points to that. I haven't really been following her so I'm just curious why you would say that.

So, I was just discussing KM Stitchery with my sister last weekend, and we both had the same observations: great t-shirts, super-cute poses by the models, but we wouldn't buy one because....the t-shirts are one-of-a-kind, which means that you're going to get the one that she's wearing in the photo. Which gets into the
