Objection! Tea with milk is how the good Lord intended it to be drunk! Tea without milk is the weird one. Especially lukewarm tea made in the microwave which I have seen some Americans do. I find tea without milk baffling and would like some more information about it please.

I would say fanny is vulgar, but it isn’t sexual, if you see what I mean. I wouldn’t say it in polite company. Well *I* wouldn’t say it at all! But on the scale of vulgarity it is probably pretty low!

I teach Literature and talking about heroines called Fanny is guaranteed to get snickers. Until I do my whole ‘blah blah no need to laugh, different times, be mature’ speech.

I love I of the Morning. I kinda missed SP - slightly the wrong age and in the UK, but I bought Machina: the machines of God because I saw it when browsing in a record shop (remember them) and loved it.

I can see that. But I was really struck this time by how he tries to pressure Jane into marriage.

Ugh. I haven't read Jane Eyre in a while but I recently listened to a really good BBC radio adaptation and was so struck but what a complete and utter arse StJohn is. Far far worse than I remembered him. I want to reread it and see if he is that awful in the novel.

I have tried Wuthering Heights twice. And not got through it. And I teach Literature. I feel bad about not just persevering and ploughing through. Especially as I have read a lot of crappy (but enjoyable!) books.

What’s with the sic?

I feel like I have missed a boat, but what does “woke” mean?

If you use flour to thicken sauces it needs to boil - something to do with it releasing the starch so it does actually thicken. If you aren't letting it boil then it won't thicken.

I love Death in Paradise! I love the scenery, Ben Miller, the sargeant (who is Cat from Red Dwarf), the tension with Camille, the young policeman (I can’t remember any character names!) I also love the guest stars each ep who clearly have leapt at the chance to film somewhere so beautiful for a few weeks.

I don't know anything about it (British) but at conferences here the people staffing stalls are not necessarily supporters of whatever the conference is about. Often they are employees of the venue.

But is it more offensive than ‘Dear Future Husband’? Because that makes me want to defenestrate my radio.

Yes. Thanks Bobby for articulating this so well.

Have you watched ‘Miranda’? He is the love interest in that. He is delicious.

PS Aimée, if you put the names of the celebrities in standfirst in bold, it looks like it is dirtbag and then it isn’t and I get a bit sad. Sorry to be the person who points stuff out.

Do you reckon some poor intern has to screen grab everything a celebrity ever posts for the TMZ archives? Or do you think they make a judgement call about which ones are potentially going to get deleted and just screen grab those?

I watched the whole clip waiting for him to sing ‘The Blacker the Berry’ from Hairspray. He didn’t.

I really enjoyed reading this review and discussion. And I hate to be that person but it hurt my eyes: you don't need a capital after a colon because it is not end of sentence punctuation.

Goodbye and good luck, Marie!!
