For the record, it was a manual 03 9-5 Aero wagon. As a former owner of a manual 08 9-3 Aero wagon, I weep for my brother.

Add a manual downshift and legendary Saab turbo lag and he may have slowed down enough to miss it.

Aerodynamics and efficiency. The squared off back is great for cargo utility, but about as bad as it gets for airflow over the rear.
