Wasn't Superman vs Batman rated R?

Gawrsh, how totally uncharacteristic for Morrison. /sarcasm

It's not what it was.

See my remark below about Snyder's stupid explanation for why Joker never dies.

I grew up with the Gerry Conway/Curt Swan Superman, and spent a lot of years hating him, because he was always right. He is, as I've said elsewhere, the moral center of the DC Universe and if he's wrong about ANYTHING, the universe falls apart. His big issue was figuring out who to punch, or how to punch the bad guy

Been trying to find that, thanks.

Damn I miss that website.

The "Always-Right" thing applies to Supes, as well. He's the gosh-darn moral center of the DC Universe. Maybe that explains the dictator thing— He's SO powerful, if he takes one itty-bitty step out of line, he can literally smash the world.

Is he related to Sly and the Family Stone?

But unlike Manhattan, Superman can hear and see the suffering all around him. Could you see all that and just float away?

Batman's whole life is reduced to a childhood trauma (admittedly, a BIG one) that he deals with by prowling the city looking for people he can justifiably beat up. Supes is about the growth of Humanity, Batman is about a twisted psyche.

Manson doesn't escape every 6 months to kill more people.

Huh, good question. What I meant was that he sees the essential worthiness of even the lowest slob or mugger.

Can you tell me in what universe the Joker, crazy or not, WOULDN'T get the Death Penalty? Back in the Silver Age, when the Joker was actually an interesting character who, y'know, did shit besides MURDERMURDERMURDER all the time, there was at least that excuse. But now? It's gotten so obvious that Snyder made Joker

THIS!!! It is a shame that comics (and as I've said before, this was always a big thing at Marvel) focus on "Could X beat up Y", instead of telling a real story. This reduces story-telling to the level of Pro-Wrestling.

Batman, on the other hand, if he existed in Real Life, would obviously be a combination of Donald Trump and that creep that murdered Trayvon Martin.

But as at least one clever writer figured out, Wolverine can still drown.

Grant Morrison (yeah, HIM again) decided that Supes CAN feel pain, he just doesn't get "hurt" in the sense of permanently injured. Which makes him more of a hero, of course.

Read Grant Morrison's run on Action Comics.

They blew that by programming it so that basically every time Superman landed, he caused a shockwave that would destroy property for blocks around. Superman simply wouldn't fly if that were the case.
