Note that I’m not making the argument that death will always provide closure, or that violent retribution is morally correct - simply that deriving closure from the death of someone who caused you grief is not really aberrant in any way.

I agree with you that the death penalty should be off the table. But if it is in force, and it has been applied to anyone else, it’s hard to argue that this man is more deserving of lenience than others who’ve received the penalty.
I live in Massachusetts, plenty of people here believe in the death penalty. I have met quite a few.
