I hated it from the first trailer. I didn't hate the cast/crew though, like I did for Ghostbusters. If I hated the cast/crew for Robocop, I probably would've been annoyed early on.

Or the millions who collectively downvoted the trailers. Or was that also 12 guys that I talk to on the internet?

Female comedy is comedy that is specifically targeted at a female demographic, which is what Wiig and McCarthy do these days.

Apologies. I was referring specifically to the vast majority of fans who wanted something more akin to the originals. I should've made that more clear. There will always be some percent of people who liked the old thing and then also like the new thing. They are obviously not the majority in this case.

I blame autocorrect.

You clearly didn't pay any attention to the way people on social media were reacting to those who criticized the films trailer. I wish I had saved the tweets. They were appalling.

I was one of the critics from early on. I don't like Paul Feig, Melissa McCarthy or Kristen Wiig. I think they're talentless hacks. I frequently call Wiig/McCarthy the female Adam Sandler/Kevin James. Overexposed and talentless. I got equally annoyed when Netflix announced that Sandler was getting a 10 picture deal

*Honk*

I use my real name on twitter. What if a future employee looks at my timeline and sees that somebody is calling me sexist? In this world, the natural response would be to not hire me. Or if a current employee saw it? The natural response might be to fire me. These things have ramifications whether you like it or not.

Nobody yells at little girls for dressing up as Ghostbusters. If that's a thing that happened, it's something that happened with one person, or a very finite group of people. Or it was internet trolls, and internet trolls don't care about the topic they're trolling about, they're merely seeking a reaction wherever

It's not just a classic comedy film, it's an established franchise with established tropes and an established comedic style. To give us something so markedly different than what we, the fans, want from the film is a betrayal of that fandom. Perhaps that was their intent. If that's the case, fine. Whatever. They're

You don't get to just call somebody a sexist because you disagree with them and then use history as a shield for making such a terrible and unjust claim. These are the kind of labels that follow people. Making unfair and gross accusations like that is deceitful, wrong and oppressive. It's also libel, slander, etc. You

I was reacting to the cast, the writer, the trailers, etc.

Bro, you clearly didn't engage with people on twitter about this movie. I did. Every time I gave a negative reaction, it was met with "you're just a misogynist." They may not have actually been explicitly told in those terms, but it was heavily implied by the fact that if you disagreed, people called you a sexist,

Yes, there was some of that. There is always some of that. The problem is, that anyone who disagreed was labeled into that camp. It's open season for generalizing certain groups of people. You can't call a misogynist a misogynist anymore, you have to call 'men' misogynist. Why use such a general term to describe such

They aren't obligated to be and I'm not obligated to like that they aren't. I'm not obligated to keep quiet about disliking something and I'm not a sexist for speaking my mind, even if you disagree with it. I have a right to my opinion and I won't kowtow or be silenced by people who seek to make their voice the only

I hated the Robocop reboot too. You know what the difference was? I didn't get called a bigot for thinking the Robocop reboot was shit. That's what really sparked this controversy. The fact that people were told they weren't allowed to have a negative opinion about the future of the franchise, because 'sexism'. If

Yes, I'm a Ghostbusters fan. I also complained about the last 3 Terminator movies, and the Robocop reboot. Difference is, nobody told me I was sexist because I called those reboots/sequels trash.

Woof woof woof?

It's "good" in the way Bridesmaids is "good". It's a fine movie for a particular demo who likes Feigs typical female led comedy fare, but it's not a Ghostbusters movie. It's a Paul Feig female comedy with a Ghostbusters costume on.
