Would the auto company intentionally destroying the car be fine, just because they found out that you went to a third party for an alteration?

Good analogy! This is a an intentional software bricking of the phone, not a malfunction, just because Apple didn’t get revenue when someone went to a third party for repair! So Apple destroys the phone they sold you - why? Security reasons of course!!
