I think this says more about how you view the internet (and other people) than about anything else.

Gender roles are bad because they are reductive and limiting, they perpetuate the idea that men are strong and women are weak, because people will either conform or rebel against them instead of being their own person (very common amongst (smart, introspective) kids!), because - in case oyou haven't noticed, being

....so many grains.

"front wheel-drive animals" that could *move* around...

... a contraception fanboy?

So basically, as with most real people, gender stereotypes are BS. In my case people are often surprised that I'm really sensitive (the nice way of saying I cry really easily haha) and a super good listener, because I'm an engineer and I program and don't look like a girl.

It's easy to not get angry over issues that don't affect you. Of course you're not angry - you don't have a horse in the race.

Never mind the fact that I was born in a third world country and am not american and haven't even set foot in non-airport american soil in the past 5 years.

It was mostly on my dad's side of the family, I don't know why... maybe they thought they'd be too rough? Maybe they were afraid we'd play doctor? Or just the fact that my dad was having a bit of a feud with the boys' dad, but not his other siblings. It never made any sense to me and still doesn't make much, tbh.

Dude, if you knew how many times I asked for the boy toy and got the girl toy....

I think 51% of the world's population might disagree that sexism is not an important problem. Sure, in the grand scheme of things THIS PARTICULAR manifestation of sexism might not seem a big deal - but it's part of a larger pattern.

I have no brothers, but I distinctly remember being 7 and yelling at my mum that if I were a boy things would be different and this was unfair.

I remember whenever we'd go to McD's I'd *beg* my mum to use the drive-through and ask for a boy toy - when they'd see me, they didn't even ask. See a little girl, even dressed in shorts and a Ghostbusters shirt? Girl toy. Even when they boy toy line *was* Ghostbusters.

Although to be fair, it's not just Gawker and io9. That's what bugs me the fuck out about the entire world.

It's mostly because water is an extremely good solvent which facilitates the self-perpetuating chemistry we (at least currently) define life as.

wow... wow.

Woah, why'd they take them away? I had no idea this happened!

Good luck!

I know right! Life would be a bit easier without one, and given that I'm never planning on using it...

So I know these women are probably elated.... but I am horrified by reading this.
