I basically stopped trying to reinvent myself.

After a month, wherever I am, I speak in the local accent. I hate that I do it, but it is totally subconscious and I am completely unaware of it happening until questioned about it. Plus, I am beyond absent-minded, so that doesn’t help.

My summer reinvention was a reluctant and failed one.

I decided one summer to become a “dank hippie” and to me that meant wearing shirts with double entendres printed on them from American Eagle and linen skirts from Old Navy and Birkenstocks every day. Pretty sure I missed the mark.

My hips tend to dislocate and pop out of their sockets a lot, so someone suggested wearing spanx instead of braces and supports. My mum got me a pair of shorts spanx and I gave up after 20 minutes, three dislocated fingers, and dislocated shoulder and hyper extended knee and elbow. At this point I’m too scared to try…

Contrapoints is amazing, and this video in particular is fantastic.  Natalie really does a great job both explaining them and having empathy for them without excusing them for their awful behavior.

Ha, this reminds me of how male bodies were/are drawn in superhero comic books in the 90's. The male body for the male gaze is some seriously fucked up shit.

And. You should read the repulsive things they write to me. Like my profile does not at all make me sound like I’m stupid or looking for a 74 yr old 1 night stand.  The vulgar things they say are over the top for me & I’ve got the mouth of a truck driver.

Unfortunately, incels aren’t contained to the US. In countries where they can’t as easily get guns, they use things like vehicles.
