Well there's that.
Well there's that.
I honestly don't see what the problem is with Moira arriving in Quebec and being (temporarily) relocated to Toronto or somewhere in Ontario later. Luke crossed into Canada by boat from Maine to most likely New Brunswick. Yet he's living in Toronto. It's not like Luke was consigned to stay in Fredericton or Moncton.…
My grandparents grew up under a monarchy, endured a world war during their teen years, lived in a republic throughout their 20s, experienced a dictatorship and a second world war for most of their 30s and 40s, and were subject to a foreign military occupation before either of them reached age 50.
Yeah, I get that. It's just that if Moira traveled from Boston to Ontario (starting out with a vehicle, arriving by foot), she would have *been* in Canada for quite some time before reaching Ontario. Maybe she avoided populated areas and highways (with signs that mark distances in kilometers). One thing I can think…
We all know by now how effortlessly someone can goad Serena Joy into fits of boiling rage. Even though the mention of Hell got her attention, Serena still found enough self control to chide June about her outbursts not being "good for the baby". Serena knew she had gained leverage over June and that was chilling.
Oh yeah. Words were indeed spoken. Words I couldn't easily repeat at the International Longshoremen's Association, let alone in mixed company.
Maybe Moira arrived in Quebec (or New Brunswick). The car looked old, undriven for a long time, and was coated in dust. Not too illogical to assume it still had Ontario license plates even if it was located in another province.
Very good question. Since Rita is the only half-way sympathetic character left in the Waterford residence, I understand why June would reveal those letters to her. Does Rita have any connections to May Day? I suspect she will be quite underestimated in Season 2.
Dunno if this admission will get me kicked out of polite society, but the end track to Episode 3 was a hit with me. Emily/Ofglen1's rage expressed musically.
Not only that, she also seemed unable to react to how "normal" the man's conversational style was, how casual, how mundane it was. It's like she lost the ability to engage in small talk after the ordeals she experienced during the prior 3 years.
Oh I believe Serena would definitely hurt a child, but stop short of having that child killed.
I don't see the Luke/Moira thing happening. Book Moira wasn't thrilled with Book Luke *because* he cheated on his first wife. Also, I suspect that Moira has had enough of heterosexuality, especially after the non-consensual, freaky circus sex that those in Gilead's inner circle seem to crave.
Good point. That would mean Serena Joy is SOL if Freddy-boy is hauled before the tribunal. now that June took the Eye-Mobile to elsewhere.
One question I have (and this goes for the book and TV series) is what happens to the Wives of disgraced Commanders (or other officials of Gilead). If all status is through the husband, that would not bode well for the spouses of the officials who ran afoul of the regime's policies.
Watching Moira being quietly overwhelmed as she tries to adjust to Canada, a nation bearing many resemblances to pre-Gilead America, was heartbreaking in an understated way.
More like Putznam, amirite?
Now I wonder how they are going to keep Madeline Brewer's character around. Gilead isn't the kind of place that likely suspends death sentences.
Not that I'm pro-stoning to begin with, mind you, but stoning Janine in particular is like throwing rocks at a wounded bunny. You're flat-out evil for even attempting it.
There were some obvious parallels between Nick's recruitment into a lower position at the Sons of Jacob and similarly disaffected, aimless young men joining the Sturmabteilung (SA) during the 1920s and 1930s.
