Not all religious people lack a sense of humor. My mom was a very devout Catholic and had a wicked sense of humor. Probably her favorite thing to laugh at was her children’s troubles raising their own kids. That and David Warner’s decapitated head bouncing down the street in The Omen.

I love The Hunt for Red October and its version of Jack Ryan. It’s a great story about one nerd being in the right place at the right time with a head full of nerd knowledge that’s perfect for solving one situation.

I’d be more disturbed by this if Takai wasn’t in his 80s and if this didn’t happen nearly 40 years ago. Arguably, all gay sex was criminal and deviant in the 1980s. Society repressed and shamed gays, forcing them underground, which means their outlets for sexual activity weren’t always healthy. And it was, even more
