Terry Pratchett has pointed out numerous times that when the human brain sees something too horrible to cope with, it simply ignores it — that's what many Americans do when it comes to the suffering of the poor.

Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

Slightly off topic, but I hate the Dr Pepper 10 ad campaigns so much. Don't you fucking tell me which flavor to drink, Dr Pepper!

I try to remember to not discount the emotions of people younger than me, and not pull "you'll understand when you're older" lines. And people get pregnant unexpectedly in their teens all the time. I would, ah, know. But to make a conscious decision to get pregnant when you have so little in employable skills,

There are always exceptions, but the 16-20 year olds I've met who desperately wanted to get pregnant usually didn't have their shit together yet. It's not like I did either, just different not-together-shit.

I'm a very avid gamer and don't have any issue with Minecraft being repetitive. It's really repetitive flying all over the world, virtually excavating for virtual artifacts over and over and over, hoping that maybe, just maybe, THIS canopic jar will, at long last, cough up a goddamned recipe for Vial of the Sands, but

I haaaaaate VS! The day I was properly sized elsewhere and tried on a quality bra in my REAL size? Life-changing.

Are we reading the same comments? Did you miss where people are flipping out that they've threatened to use viagra to get him erect for more photos? (Just typing that makes me taste bile, ugh.) Did you miss the comments on how this is basically state sanctioned sexual assault? There are some milder "this is BS"

Indeed. Maybe she'll let me visit sometimes.

Exactly what I thought.

I recently found out that a good friend sincerely believes that there has never been an instance where a man was hired for a position instead of a woman for any reason other than "he had the right skillset, she didn't". That it's just not a thing, ever.

No shit- my sidebar list of "Recommended by Mark Shrayber" reads like a shortcut to the bottom of a wine bottle.

Hmmm. I think I'd only care if it were a notable enough crime to have a Wikipedia page. Not exactly legislative-ready criteria, I know.

+100

Perhaps that's why this Usagi seems less expressive. I love me some artbooks, but they often suffered from a bit of thousand yard stare.

It seems like they jumped straight to late manga/artbook style skinny for the characters, possibly because they thought it would be weird for the art style to change in the new anime?

Bioshock Infinite is what came to mind as soon as I read the headline. Granted, I was probably less prepared than most because I'm fairly easily squicked out by gory violence, but still. I nearly fell off the damn couch at that particular scene.

I'm really not sure what I expected when I clicked through there. I'm...horrified and also terribly amused? That is some serious dedication to a project.

I only wear pants and my husband doesn't seem to have an opinion, so I think I can safely say I don't shave for other people. I have this tic where I rub my legs against each other while I fall asleep, and my leg hair is like, well, eyebrow hair. And plentiful. It's itchy and weird when I don't shave from the knee

I'm a bit squicked out that we're not talking about the "trying to get someone wasted" as a seduction technique.
