I’ve wanted to understand this as well, since German cars are generally considered to be well-built and “over-engineered”. But that over-engineering never seems to make them as or more reliable than Japanese counterparts. Best I can gather is the relative unreliability of German designs is due to

I wouldn’t even say the two cars compete. Much more than the price separates the two. The Panamera appears to be a much larger car for one thing, and it’s an executive saloon in the sense of an an S550/S63. The Guilia (unless I’ve missed something) is more M5/E63/CTS-V size, even if it lacks the power ceiling of those

It’s pricey but I think it’s worth it. How many mid-80s Toyota trucks does anyone see still on the road, let alone in this condition, let alone further the custom cab model? In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in this flavor.

Well, at least you picked the best-looking version of the Aztek.

Now playing

“...same road where that dude claimed to have run his Koenigsegg past 200 mph...”

That must be a pre-production marketing pic of the 4G Trans Am. I have never seen one with 3-spokes like that.

Ya, the Caliber is a special kind of awful, which is why Calibert SRT-4s are about as rare as a flat-12 Ferrari on city streets.

Ya I have to disagree with most of these. Excursions and GMT400s for free mean a work truck any time you need one. Also, Avengers may have terrible dynamics, but it’s perfectly acceptable in a pinch, and who could turn down the later 290hp Pentastar V6 examples?

The 2-door? Or just a GMT400 in general? The 2-doors are hard to come by and I think are going up in value, since they were only available for a few model years. If you want a 2-door GMT400 SUV that will surprise a lot of people, try finding a Canadian example with the 6.5 turbodiesel (wasn’t offered in the US).

LOL beat me to it!

CRACKKkkkk........................PPPPPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPEEEE

The problem with the Navistar-built diesel V8s Ford used had nothing to do with their build quality. It had to do with the engineering and the tricks used to get the things to pass emissions. What I’ve heard is that the aftermarket has since come up with fixes for the inherent engineering issues in those two engines,

Um, don’t look now, but the new-gen Tacoma uses a composite bed. Can it sustain a 500 lb gravel drop from 3-5 feet in sub-zero weather? No idea, but at the very least the Tacoma has the payload capacity to be able to test your scenario up to about 1500 lbs.

I get what the OP is saying, but in reality, this will probably not bite GM very hard at all.

Less attractive than the last one, probably because it isn’t as muscular.

Texas also has 5 times more people than Finland, and isn’t part of the Arctic circle.

Automagic NP; no need to even think about it after seeing the pics.

Attempted vehicular accident? More like murder. Murder is with intent, manslaughter is not.

Could be any number of valid or unsavory reasons. I see private car-for-sale ads all the time where someone says “X family member died, must sell” or “moving across country, must sell”. Those are valid reasons IMO. It’s also common in my experience for people to put money into a car before they sell it, so that they

Dude, chill the F out. So people were born after you. Big freakin’ deal.
