Ugh, the speech therapy plot annoys me and I really wish they had let it drop. For one, it's really unbelievable that Emmett would be able to read lips as well as he's supposed to (or talk like he did in the finale) without having had speech therapy ever. For another, while Melody has a reason not to like it based off

@Scrawler2:disqus I like the clothes theory, though I do think some of the attraction comes from such a fancy person deigning to help him.

@avclub-b030afbb3a8af8fb0759241c97466ee4:disqus Oh, I've seen the episode, I just wanted to know what about it from an attorney's standpoint was particularly annoying. I guess I'll just have to wait until they air it here to read your comments.

@Scrawler2:disqus I agree, except that I think O'Brien has her motivations too. I mean, she's basically the poor Edith—no one has ever been nice to her, so the only way she can have friends is through manipulation and pity. That doesn't I have heaping loads of sympathy for her, but I get where she's coming from.

    What's the ridiculous legal scenario?

Agreed. Mary's motivations we complex, to say the least, and the terrible advice she was getting from her aunt wasn't helping.

I'm an Edith defender, but I do think that out of all the Crawley sisters, she's mostly to think that her station means she should be allowed to do whatever she wants with her social lessers.

Ralph Fiennes is related to someone called Sir Maurice Alberic Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes. Compared to all this, the Downton cast is far too dull, name-wise.

I haven't seen the show on PBS ever, so grain of salt, but it seems that last night they just straight up showed the first two episodes—I think they're (supposedly) cutting them down less and that seems to be the plan from hereon out. That's just how the show is being edited this season.

    SPOILERS

I agree with this completely except for the running through the episodes part. In fact, I've wondered if people weren't hating because they didn't have the week's anticipation between everything.

Also, the most British name of all time would be Ralph Cholmondeley-St.John. Which isn't a real person, but is a pronunciation landmine.

At least Edith was behaving badly by making out with a married farmer (though everyone I talked to seemed to have thought that was his mom. Casting whoops!)

Oh sure! But as someone who watches the show in part to see the ASL used, it's frustrating, and I imagine if ASL were my first language (even with the subtitles) it'd be even worse. Eye contact is a HUGE Deaf culture thing, so having the camera focus on the signer is a good way to mimic it.

I agree with the subtitles, but I wish they took more of a "Deaf lens" approach and focused on the person signing, rather than switching back and forth between the faces the way you would if two hearing people were talking.

When I realized that Icetown was on Leslie's email/memo word cloud I laughed for five minutes. So great.

I agree with all of this BUT I think Psych is way more about little things that propel characters forward than any sort of big thing. For example, when Juliet says that Shawn continuing to ignore her was getting hurtful (which, about time, lady) I think (well, hope) the show will use that as a turning point. At the

That's true, season one Shawn was more "smart guy who chose to act like a man-child" rather than a man-child who happened to be smart.

He scoffed, but he also once said a crime was committed by a dinosaur. Plus, he's always believed in aliens (there was a whole episode about this).

I agree with the baby steps towards maturity, but I will say that since they started dating Shawn hasn't been this immature or childish on a case. In fact, until this episode, I assumed he had taken that baby step of maturity without the show showing it.
