It really does have that cheap TV aesthetic to it. The sets give off strong SyFy vibes sometimes.

There are good bones to this show, the general idea and concept. Why is the execution of it all so terrible.
Terrible writing ,terrible action ,Terrible effects, sub par acting over 150 million for this ????
This episode was pretty lame to be honest. The short run time kills it, which is a problem across multiple D+ shows. It’s rather drab for the first 25ish minutes with some wooden acting and dialogue and then when business finally picks up, they end the episode. But it feels more like a cheap and cliched tactic than…
Acolyte is fine. As in, C+ overall, which is better than most TV out there and about what I’d grade most Star Wars shows on Disney+. Looks good, knows what it wants to do, has highlights here and there, like cutie pie Bazil and the final sequence this episode. But... I spend most of the show bored by the uneven perform…
Just can’t get past the terrible dialogue and nonsensical plot choices
I get why most of the movies on this list are forgotten. But “Con Air” is one of those movies I personally find very rewatchable... I guess it’s a guilty pleasure, but it also seems pretty ubiquitous on streaming platforms and cable TV and seems to have become part of the pop culture zeitgeist.
Goofy is fine. But dumbasss goofy is not. Wow, this episode was dreadful.
Dear god, this was the worst episode in the worst season of what is, on its best day, a middling series.
He’s one of the nicest, most generous people in showbiz. And he’s fucking THERE, isn’t he? If he was seriously upset about the premise of the youtube series, he would’ve ignored the request.
[Already posted this as a reply to someone else on a different article, so apologies to anyone reading this twice.]
If he hadn’t written anything past the first book, the first book was still worth reading. I find I can enjoy what I’m reading for the journey and not just the destination.
Yes I was being serious. The second age is so barely represented in any of the initial books (not sure if Tolkeins son has written anything on it, but yeah) but I feel like it’s been pretty set up to end up where it should. Like I said though it’s been a long time since I read the books so I was asking what your…
Yes. It’s not perfect, but what is? I really like it.
I’ve been very much enjoying it. I read the Silmarillion.. but years ago in High School so my memory is not great. How has it been out of sink with Tolkien’s lore? It’s seemed to be setting up for the events of the end of the second age pretty well, I feel like. I’ve really enjoyed the whole “Mordor origin story”…
In spite of its shortcomings, actually yes. And for the time being I find myself enjoying the non-canon stuff of the Southlands and Elrond and Durin’s friendship more than the show’s attempts at interpreting the canon events.
Eh, with all due respect, I think James got it right the first time, myself.
I think some of the “backlash against criticism about representation” is about the fact that it sometimes feels like it’s the only subject critics are interested in. This was, by far, the best episode of House of the Dragon. It managed to create a tension the show has been lacking, and ended with a scene where all the…
I don’t mean to be rude, but these reviews are the worst....snarky recaps with almost no substance and numerous incorrect inferences. Anyone have a recommendation for true reviews of the episodes?
I object to Jenna’s description of the final battle as thrilling — everything about it was totally obvious and not shot in an interesting enough way to make up for that. This is my biggest complaint about this show so far: it just seems like box-ticking and moving pieces into place.
