Are you unaware of the background of the streamer in question? He was a reporter for the young Turks (TYT) which is based out of LA. Today as a streamer he mostly devotes his time to covering news and reacts.

He covers news more than games, which you would know if you watched him at all. Media connections are absolutely more relevant than game devs are.

Seems fixed now at least.. I’m sure some of the comments you have been referring to must be grey now. The only possibly problematic takes I see now are questioning whether there really was a serious fire, no un grey’s are outright endorsing this behavior.
