Just a correction: It should be “implied,” not “inferred.” The one saying the thing is implying, and the one hearing the thing infers something from it. 

Yeah, you can do a hell of a lot worse than “kinda boring”.

Even before I watched the in-car footage of him definitely not driving at “around 50mph”, that whole part of his story reeked a bit too much of “Do you know who I am?!”, and kinda burnt any sympathy I’d worked up from the rest of his story.
