They do; it’s called “writing.” You’re right, though, that it needs to be taught much more effectively.

Indeed that’s a crushing amount of debt, but I’m sure they didn’t intend to be in that position from the start. Their assets (the value of their cars) has dropped precipitously, and they have had to probably add to their debt in the past few months just to cover the amazing losses day after day.
Hertz’s revenue in 2019 was about $800 million a month. That means they’re spending $20-30 million per day. For the last three months they’ve had very little revenue, and likely corporate travel will not come back anytime soon. Sure companies prepare for disasters, but nobody rationally saw this coming. It’s not…
You are so correct. This is a great idea. We should have public housing with names like Pruitt-Igoe and Cabrini Green.
You do realize that this is hitting a bunch of countries pretty hard, including all kinds of governments and cultures. Which countries are selfish?
We know a hypothetical demonstration, even had it worked, would not have resulted in surrender, because the Hiroshima bomb did not result in surrender after the scope of the destruction and casualties were already known.
Agreed. Google bought Waze SEVEN YEARS AGO. I have no idea why Waze wasn’t incorporated to Google Maps or at least given Googles’s interface.
As I said, the NBA coaches/players haven’t changed. Kerr is a good person. Yes, you are right, it is the most sensible business decision to kowtow to China. I didn’t say otherwise. But they are destroying the narrative that the NBA is committed to freedom of expression. They move games out of North Carolina but still h…
Before this the narrative was that the NBA was a league full of personalities who would speak their mind and didn’t care what people thought. Kerr and Pop could speak out on gun control and racism, people could call Trump a “bum” and wear a “Beto” hat, etc. Heck, they moved All-Star weekend out of North Carolina…
I never understood why SVU lasted longer than the original Law & Order. It was so much better.
It is my understanding that Airbus planes all have the year on the plate of the door. Boeing planes do not so you will have to look them up.
Won’t some third party just make their own stand? I understand it’s a rip-off but there will be easy ways to get around this, no?
Hetero married pro-choice male here (but against Roe vs. Wade). I think men do care about abortion, but the war on women argument is a non-sequitur. To pro-lifers, they see it as a baby in there that is being killed. Any argument about “hating women,” “right to choose,” “get the government out of my bedroom” does…
This is the most famous example of filing a false police report. It was also (according to the bond proffer sheet) a pretty open/shut case.
Lots of families will see Disney’s programming as essential for their kids. Many people will also see the live sports for ESPN and will be willing to pay. And there may be a smaller but significant number for whom the Star Wars/Marvel universe makes it essential.
The problem is the volume. These tunnels are most effective during rush hour (maybe 4 hrs/day) and not really effective afterwards. Can the elevators deliver one car to the tunnel every 30 seconds? That would be challenging for the elevators, and that’s not many cars (2 cars/minute, 240 cars each rush hour period).…
As a Car Talk listener, I’m not surprised. Tom never seemed to know much of anything about diagnosing problems with cars. It was Ray that really did all the diagnosis, and Tom would simply go along with him 90% of the time. If their voices weren’t so similar, more listeners would have caught on to this.
Why should filing a false report be a crime if you’re not going to prosecute the most famous false police report in history (and an open/shut one at that)?
Great work, Jason. Maybe you can make sure Michael Ballaban sees this. He is convinced that high-speed rail can replace air travel: https://jalopnik.com/no-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-isn-t-coming-to-take-your-1832458563
One question about the anti-Electoral College crowd. Do you also want to abolish the Senate, too? After all, that’s where the “un-democratic”aspects of the Electoral College come into play, because each state is proportionally represented in the E.C. until you add each state’s two senators.
And second, that comment…
