FWIW I listened to the Better Call Saul Insider podcast about that ep with Chuck's story and the show makers don't seem to know if the story is true or not. It sounds like they haven't made up their minds yet about what to do with it.

Yeah I re-watched it and you're right. I guess I was mislead by Scully's assumption that Ambrose's character had the shot (when clearly she was too young). I think that caused me to come to wrong conclusion and miss the line about the modified vaccine. My mistake.
