Well, Little Children (the only Perrotta I think is genuinely great, front to back) was written in 2004 but takes place the summer before 9/11. There are plenty of pop culture markers (lots of Chandra Levy) that set it in that period. Some 2004 readers probably found those details cringe worthy without picking up on

And in The King's Speech.

I really don't want Carter to die under Trump. I love that man and Carter doesn't deserve to have Trump anywhere near his funeral. Plus Trump will try to make it all about him.

Ugh. If I hear any of those songs I'm gone. Who came up with that list? Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke. It's not rocket science.

Any chance of getting Feingold back in the game somehow?

Quantum of Solace is the one where the love interest is named Strawberry Fields and the villains leave her naked on his bed covered in oil. Because the plot has something to do with oil.

Only care because more Bond means more Q. Hopefully. Unless Whishaw doesn't want to do it for some reason.

I would be fine with that. Just a movie of M and Q and Moneypenny doing stuff.

The people building roads in my town won't do it unless Craig returns as Bond, so this works out nicely for me…

Agreed. I know that Margaret probably didn't write the speech, but boy did it make me dislike her for giving it.

Maybe it's because I'm commenting 8 months on, but this speech stuck out to me:

I'm starting to believe that Peter Morgan is the UK Aaron Sorkin. I'm sure someone has made this point before, but still….

"I *think* you got rights!"

Yeah, but I'm sure Natasha Lyonne's hair, as glorious as it is, is already a bitch to style.

I think I only got Ravenclaw because that's what I wanted so I lied on some of the answers. That joke hit home.

Just trying to hang on.

Hell even Jackie was hard to watch and not just because of the assassination. There was *protocol* that everyone respected even when it was incredibly painful.

Mattis is the only reason I get ANY sleep at night.

That really drives me crazy. HIs posture is atrocious too. He went to military school! His parents at least look like the kind of parents who tell their kids to stand up straight. Yet he's always slumped over.
