Kinja is apparently getting an overhaul. In the meantime I slave for Sean making content, he can slave for me posting it on the internet.

And thanks... subtle Bob Peck reference might be lost on some people haha.

Edit: gif master MacDonald has answered my prayers.

When you have both bike and 918 drifting through corners it’s always going to be sweet.

Yeah, first article. Only contributed previously behind the scenes and on track duties in our R1 review. And Sean doesn’t have to worry about his job, I can’t grow a beard.

A lot of my boxes ticked with those, mostly by the Yamaha (Star) Bolt, but I really dig the Indian’s DOHC engine. Again, just speaking from my perspective from outside the genre. I think branding and the name on the tank goes a long way for these things. Indian competes only with H-D in that regard, and compared to

Cool, and yeah “sporty cruiser” is such an oxymoron that it would be really hard to tune perfectly. I don’t want this to read like an advertisement, but I also don’t really have any problems with the Sixty, taking into account it’s image, performance and price point.

I also think a byproduct of higher-spec machines is

Haha yeah but get on my race bike. This was a couch By comparison.

Dainese R Twin.

Thanks, that's all I want. IDGAF what bikes anyone does or doesn't ride, but I'll try and share my experiences to help everyone be informed. Or at least entertained.

Hahaha, thankfully removed.

Moar better... Engine.

God, the new R1 is my spirit animal I loved that bike so much.

I think an honest answer would be that this is the first bike of the genre that has “the look” as well as surprising-enough “performance.” I guess I was expecting less performance, which I would have been okay with too.

I honestly love the Scrambler but like Nonster said, it’s almost like you can pick it apart where they saved money. I mean of course, compared to a Multistrada or a Panigale it’s very apparent.

I think these other dudes answered the appeal side of things. As for the performance, I can imagine the bigger bike might get to speed a bit quicker so it can exacerbate the shitty feeling from the brakes?

Yeah I mean, look I was super dubious because these kind of things never appealed to me and a 5 speed sounds cheap and shitty... but honestly do you ever use 5th gear other than on the freeway just before 6th? I didn’t miss it. The lower 4 gears made the bike accelerate just fine, and I didn’t even notice at the time

Everyone has already told you how you should buy a blah blah blah. Here’s what you should do: buy a bike that gets you excited and makes you happy. Is it the best financial decision? No. But if you’re a car guy getting into motorbikes, any reason is good enough, and a lot of times those reasons are emotional.

The wheels Yamaha put on this bike are their “standard” 5 spoke aluminum jams they’ve had on (previous) R1s and R6s for years now (rear wheel widths are different between R1/R6 but that’s it). They aren’t heavy, but they are definitely cheaper to produce (cost of Al vs Mg, not even mentioning the flow forming

I have a mega, unabashed man-crush on Matthew Jones (both him and his photography).

There was no beating Jorge on fresh tires in the dry without the help of traffic. If the race had stayed dry, Rossi has better tire wear and could have made some moves late in the race (Marquez was keeping pressure on Lorenzo in the first few laps, with Rossi joining them after breaking from Pedrosa).
