It's one of the bleakest films I've ever seen , in a really powerful way of course. It's got this strain of bizarre existential dread that it builds up over the course of the movie (aided by the eerie tangerine dream score) and the final moments with Scheider (like you mentioned) are just filled with pure desperation…

I'll agree with you on Death Proof. That movie was 2 hours of Tarantino blowing his own load.

Yeah but he always makes up for in strong characterization and well written dialogue and does a good job in making his exaggerated characters feel like real life individuals.

Including the ENTIRE opening sequence, almost beat by beat.

Le Cercle Rouge is also terrific.

I sort of have to admire the ambition. I'm not a fan of his bro comedies and mediocre Oscar bait picks but he's willing to try new things and step outside of his comfort zone.

Too bad. Wolverine part 9 hits next year.

Tbf KKBB is a masterpiece and probably the funniest movie of the last 15 or so years so it's hard to top that.

Crowe is older now and isn't as prolific anymore so his drawing power isn't what it used to be and Gosling (god love him) isn't a draw yet. Loved the Nice Guys though. I'm so glad it was made. A ballsy, edgy comedy in such a pandering environment.

Nice Guys and POPSTAR flopped. Y'know REAL comedies. Movies that are sincere and meant to delight audiences. Meanwhile this POS , Endless Seth Rogen bro-fests and crap like Dirty Grandpa end up making bank.
