Whedon is not dull. He just lacks a cinematic eye and is horrible with visuals. The Avengers looked like a 200 million dollar TV show. Wright on the other hand is excellent at visuals.

Yeah, they were going to reboot it but everything in the TDK trilogy is off-limits including whatever armor and gadgets there were. Nolan banned WB from using Batman -related content in their TV shows and any possibility of his Batman appearing in any 'Justice league' movie until he was done with his trilogy.
