Bravo. And I'm sure if you'd kept going, you'd have drawn the parallels between battle scenes from WWII Pacific Theater-based films and the X-wing battle over the Death Star as well.

Truth is it's ALL in there. There are references to Dune as well. It represents a series of studies on film and science fiction literature ( Flash Gordon too) finding cross references ( FYI this is what is called "blending" not "mashing up"). Lucas is a film history buff and the critics of the time were keyed in on…
And the code name used for filming RotJ (so they could get access, keep.secrets, and not pay more money for being famous) was Blue Harvest.
Sorry, but westerns influences Kurosawa, who then made his films, which then influenced westerns. It's an interesting cycle of film-making.
Doesn't stop there. Takashi Miike then makes a movie called Sukiyaki Western Django that throws pretty much every version together into one ridiculous stew.
Akira Kurosawa was inspired by John Ford so yes....Westerns.
A Fistful of Dollars was certainly based on Yojimbo, but Yojimbo was itself based on Dashell Hammett's Red Harvest. (Which wasn't a western, but rather noir.)
As long as Batman smiles ONCE in the whole movie...
It is required by law that I post this image in response to your comment.
Works that way too.
...I read "pastels" as "pasties"...
No problem. You actually taught me something; I never heard of the poet. In my defense, English isn't my first language. ;)
The Lensmen were created by E.E. "Doc" Smith... Doc Cummings sounds like a porn spoof :D
All of the Squadron Supreme are ersatz versions of the Justice League.
Both are legendary badass peak human mercs.
Green Lantern and Quasar. I love Quasar in general, and even though He's appeared in at least one marvel/dc crossover, I don't think he shared a scene with GL. But yeah same powers, same job description.
I've always compared vision to martian manhunter. Maybe the robot thing is off, but they both look quite inhuman and phase through solid matter among other things. As far as Avengers vs. JLA, I'd say they are counterparts of each other.
I can do this all day. Sorry, work. My priorities are prioritized.
Red Tornado/Vision: Both started bad and had existential crises, both are solid teammates with the big club and haven't been ruined by cosplay (I'm looking at you Deadpool)
