@ TheAncient I wonder if there's a word for that effect (the time when, due to the anticipated improvements in technology, a ship leaving from the same point will surpass a ship that left before it). Of course, Earth could undergo WW3 or environmental catastrophe, which would put a damper on any advancements in space

Worth pointing out that A: Credit card numbers won't necessarily be used immediately (or used to make purchases — there are other types of identity fraud), and B: Many people may not realize that the illicit credit card use has resulted from the Sony network breach.

It is worth noting the emphasis on personal responsibility in this piece, considering that Gawker basically messed up (Kotaku is an arm of Gawker, so making a distinction is silly). Yes, people should use safe passwords, but no, Sony should not have stored credit card info without putting more care into their

The absolute worst is driving after playing Burnout.

@ Tetsuo As fivewall pointed out, they need a keyboard. Yes, one can purchase an iPad keyboard, but that's adding complexity. Also, iPads aren't cheap, and the web browser is easily the worst part (though the part the old people need the most).

I thought you were going to take this argument in another direction. Not that you can't play it again and so don't really own it, but that the entire purpose of the game is to create a second, virtual life, and then it's a huge bummer when the servers are shut down and you lose that time investment.

This video shows why you shouldn't be afraid of flying — even an an ancient and malfunctioning Russian airplane, you're still better off than in a car.

I'll second that Pepe — FFIX holds up aesthetically because of the excellent art direction, low poly models aside.

Yep. I own an iPad (w/ wireless keyboard), my wife owns a netbook. Lately, I've been stealing the netbook because, in addition to the iPad productivity software being awful, I can word process and edit about twice as fast on the netbook.

I can't speak to how long it actually takes to determine the extent of a hack, but I have to believe that Sony knew there was a POSSIBILITY data was compromised. Remember, they weren't even being at all clear about what happened those first couple of days.

What about Half Life 2 Ep 3?

Not that this makes public porn good/bad, but it's worth noting that public displays of violent media never seem to cause much of a stir (also worth noting: "cartoon violence" can fit into G and PG ratings, but "cartoon nudity" is a whole other story).

Cars + densely populated urban area = worst idea ever.

Really? PSN won't let me log in, but in the end Netflix loads just fine (it doesn't seem to care that you're logged out of PSN). Maybe just let it try to load for a bit longer.

Here's the thing. My first thought was, well, what's why can't Valve release the game a few days early (as opposed to a few hours)? But therein lies the REAL conflict of interest with a game developer owning a distribution platform: Games are a retail product. Just as Sony felt retailer's wrath when the released the

Cringe-inducing? Forget the bandages — have fun unlocking The Kid. I'm not sure why I put myself through that little fever dream one fine afternoon. Hurts so good.

Though I imagine these dedicated Photoshop apps will work more smoothly than generic virtual desktop type apps, I will say I've successfully painted in and controlled Photoshop using air display (on a PC no less). It works well.
