From owning a bunch of those and disassembling actual tail lights. Was yours a Trans Am or a Formula/base Firebird ? Because only 79-02 Trans Ams, 79-81 Formulas and 82-86 S/Es had the smoked tail lights.

What carb was that ? Rochester Varajet ? I rebuilt a Quadrajet E4ME, maybe the least documented and most complicated QJet around, and had never done a carb before, but it was very simple and straightforward. It took about an hour and a half with the help of a book on rebuilding those carbs. The V8 fired right up on

It’s just a big sandwich when you think of it.

Full restoration of an ‘84 Trans Am, I did everything myself, bodywork, paint, engine overhaul, brakes, electric repairs, and the upholstery is on the way too. I had never done any knd of serious work on a car before, didn’t have enough tools in the beginning, and had my studies at the same time, so it took a while

Anything but red. Have your ever been to a Ferrari meeting and tried to stand out with a red Ferrari ? No, They’re all red. Ok not all, but most of them are.

The color choice depends on the car, the “shark nose” Ferraris (308/328/365GT4BB/512BB) look best in black with red interior, or dark metallic blue, or

My parents bought a “wild fluorescent yellow” Cactus a few months ago. I like how they simplified everything and didn’t cover the engine under a million stupid covers. There’s a lot of room in the engine bay (it’s the base L3 with A/C).
Things I don’t like is the viewing angle, thick pillars and low roof line don’t

How to ruin the design of an overall bad ass looking car with one useless/misplaced edge.

And he’s right to do so ! Ferrari shops ask crazy money for any kind of job. But most Ferrari owners can’t tackle any mechanical work and just have no clue. I’ve even know a guy that got his Testarossa engine rebuilt with new pistons because there was a slight white smoke on start up. That’s what the shop recommended.

Any late 70’s to late 80’s Ferrari, but mainly the Testarossa.

This candy bar wrap in a ‘79 Mustang...oh would be nothing special in itself if I hadn’t found it under the carpet in a place that hadn’t been touched since the car was built ! They really didn’t care at th Dearborn factory.

Trans Ams had smoked tail lights from 79 to 02, and lights are clearly visible when lit. But it’s not semi transparent black paint, it’s actual black clear plastic lense over another red clear plastic lens so I guess light goes through normally.

Now playing

Looks like the same thing with a different brand.

A 1984 Fiero. Those are crap, poor motor choice, bad engineering and excessive use of GM off the shelf parts, everybody knows that GM screwed it up on what should have been a neat little car, but I want one. I nearly bought one recently but gave up and bought three early Fox Mustangs instead :

Awesome little cars, they weigh next to nothing, are fun to drive, great bang for the buck. I have a beat up 1996 AX (well, had, it’s not running anymore) and my brother has a 1993 model, both are actually quite comfortable and nervous. I also have a 1994 Fiesta with a similar engine and it’s a dog in comparison, with

I’m reading complaints about the looks/proportions and lack of power compared to the previous gen monsters, but aside from that, they weren’t bad cars. Just a small economic commuter coupe with a touch of cheap luxury.

The main visual issue with the Mustang II are its tiny wheels placed too low. Get the wheels and wheel arches 3 inches higher and I’m sure it would look a ton better.
Besides that, I never heard bad things about the Mustang II.

It’s still a 1979 Trans Am 403 VIN built in Van Nuys...
I guess that’s one way to rebody a car...

I don’t know what world you live in but in terms of looks, it’s one of the best designs of the era. Simple and effective. Yes it’s got the wedge look of the era but it aged a lot better than the biodesign that became popular by the end of the 80’s.
The C5 looks like a bloated late C4, the C6 is a new edge version of

From this failed KITT that would (should?) have been parted out, cost me next to nothing besides the trip ($700, refunded by selling the KITT nose and a few parts that came with it) and was just starting to rust out. The paint didn’t shine at all, it looks much better than it was :

Teal (Windows 95 background), Forest Green, Dark Purple, Dark Blue going to black...huh, terrible 90’s colors that were everywhere and on everything back then.
