@zegota: whaaaaaaaaat? no way- there are people dumb enough that they didn't realize i was joking?

if its not about skywalkers, that's fine, make it about solos (by way of princess leah).

im very skeptical of this 13.5 billion year old thing, how long does it take to form a galaxy like that?

@Tommy Five: we determine depth by triangulation (and to some degree focal distance). we perceive 3d as polar position and depth, and stereographic imagery replicates that pretty faithfully. to say that stereographs are not 3d is to say that our vision is not 3d.

@Tommy Five: people know what 3d means, they dont know what stereography is. also, stereograph is every bit as 3d as our own vision, so i dont really see that as being false advertising.

i wonder if isaac is a liberal...

@JakeMG: Superbole: might be because its squished. the nipple is attached to the less flexible material of the milk glands, whereas the skin surrounding it is attached to fat. if pressure is applied, maybe the skin just expands further than the nipple.

@casperiv: they don't pretend it's perfect data, all they've done is report on the data they have. nothing wrong with that. take from it what you will, but i would bet that the data they have is pretty close to what you would see from the population at large.

@FrancesTheMute: look up the last okcupid study, they looked into that a bit.

@jsmuli2: You're forgetting grammar. College is just liberal nonsense now, not a real education. Most women I know who went to college did so mostly to hopefully find a husband in the field they were studying.

a game that makes me smarter, fitter, all while capitalizing on my love for retro games? sign me u—- wait, i hate retro games, im already smart enough, and i work out every day and play competitive sports 3 days a week.... nevermind, ill pass.

@ddhboy: is it that far-fetched that life is rare enough that when a species starts rounding the corner from primitive to advanced that for scientific purposes it might be interesting to watch? and if youre going to watch, why let the animals in the wildlife preserve completely blow the crap out of themselves?

@sam-a: if the russians had that technology, we would be communists.

@Apoc28: why do we care about wildlife? why do we make zoos?

@anexanhume: they never said that, its just bad headline writing by gizmodo. the guys talking felt that the aliens simply wanted to let the military know that they could intervene if they wanted to, without making a big thing out of it to the general population.

@ajbdtc826: our size is not a coincidence, and any organism that gains its intelligence through evolution as we have will have similar traits.

@Pman17: they have. ex-russian military men have very similar stories.

@jdale: its not a very well kept secret...

i watched the whole press conference, and they never called humanity obstinate, nor did they say the aliens were telling us specifically to abandon nuclear weapons.
