How about washing your hands before you touch your thingy. My unit stays pretty clean throughout the day by staying in my pants until I shower.

I’m a Contractor. If you can avoid the city/county red tape and fees, along with Engineer/Designer fees, then by all means do so. Hire someone that will build it to code and make it safe. Save 50k+ (for a granny unit!).
