This is how I am as well. In fact, if I were single I wouldn’t be openly bombing around with the fleet that I have today—I would definitely keep a relatively normal car to do most of my daily stuff.

The world has become more complicated than some of our countrymen can comprehend. Trump won because he sold the illusion of going back to a simpler time when “America was just great.” And now the entire Republican Party is on board with it.

Yeah. I don’t agree with all of her stuff, but that’s not how life works and that’s not how politics works. At her level of influence (relatively low), she has the ability to say and do a lot of things that would leave the mainstream guys hamstrung. Still wish more politicians were like her.

Usually dealer mark-ups don’t stay. You just have to wait it out and search nationwide. I know people who have gotten CTRs at MSRP, and even some years back a guy on my street found a white one and got it at $2k over. Yes, it had to be shipped, but the Internet is your friend.

It’s pretty nice in the sense that it’s nicer than any Mustang before it. At the price point you’re pretty much stuck with give-and-take; there isn’t enough profit margin to make a Mustang with a substantially better interior at that price. Which is why a Supra is so much more expensive than a base 5.0.

All of those “better” cars were developed in (or trace their lineage to) the great Japanese bubble of the 80s.  They were an anomaly in the broader history of cars.

People lacking self-esteem are afraid to make decisions that may be seen as “impractical.” This is rampant in the Silicon Valley engineering circles that I inhabit, where every purchase must be justified as rational and people are afraid to display any semblance of personality. I must say it’s been very fortunate for Tesla that these have mostly been happening to unoccupied vehicles. Perhaps it’s related to an idle + hot/humid ambient environment with neither drain nor charge, resulting in thermal runaway.

You’ve touched on a larger issue that isn’t necessarily the topic here, but I agree that the obsession with guns (and some nebulous idea of “freedom” that apparently nobody else has!!) is a uniquely American disease.

Venezuela has had an awful track record in modern history. If I had to live there, I would fight to the death for my gun rights too.
