I’m for lowering the numbers. It’s been long enough IMO, that buyers can accept that you can’t keep increasing numbers.

All I’m trying to say is that the numbers were once relevant to NA engines. They still would be if people still offered NA engines, but the brands that number this way do hardly offer anything NA anymore. So those numbers no longer mean much to the buyers of today’s turbo’d BMWs and Benzes.

I’m mistaken, the 3.0L continued at BMW as the “_28i” model after 2005.

This true and the unfortunate reality of engine technology progressing faster than people can keep up with.

The last time a NA 3.0L i-6 was offered in a BMW 3-series was in 2005, or 14 years ago.

But there is no more relevance to a NA engine. Most mainstream engines in premium cars today are turbo.  Today’s average car buyer doesn’t really understand the concept of displacement.

Nor did the original Honda Odyssey!

Every generation of the TT became less unique than the previous, by tacking on whatever the current grille-and-lights design language was at the time.

This school deserves death by a thousand IG hashtags on this viral video.

Right, some people will continue their course of inaction when faced with a debt trap, and we can’t stop them from spending too much. There is no need to justify their poor choices for them.

Smartphones are now available on pay plans too...! For something that depreciates even faster than a car, it’s all insane to me.

Luxury entitlement is caused by loose lending regulations, IMO.

A modern mainstream car with 100k miles, that doesn’t have frame rust, likely has another 100-150k to go before repairs start to routinely exceed the car’s value.

The bigger picture is that yes, people on that tight of a budget are typically disadvantaged by an inferior personal/social/career network, need a car urgently, can’t afford in cash, etc.  That part is true.

Probably a very indirect correlation but I’m sure it’s there.

Not sure if serious...

Yeah, Japanese plates are HUGE, and with a lot of empty space too.  They look hilarious on Kei cars.

Yeah, front plates are a non-problem IMO. The fact that people here in the US care about them just means that enforcement has been lax enough that people have been getting away with not mounting them.
