@magnanimous: It would fit. The Stag was fitted with a V8...but that V8 has a tendency to throw belts and cause a general mess. I am thinking either Rover V8 (what it should have had from the factory) or a Chevy V8 because of its ubiquity and ease of obtainment.

The simple solution is to put counters on the cross walks. In my town, they are timed with the lights, so you know exactly how long the light will be green, and how long you have to cross the street.
