Taibbi's breakdown of Eric Holder's law enforcement strategy is why I'm not sorry to see him go. Basically, the two -tiered justice system is why none of the big shots on Wall Street are in jail, or even been prosecuted. And Holder seems clueless as to why that's a problem. Give a guy with a half joint in his pocket…
What's the line?
It's minor Pynchon, filtering/revisiting themes from Crying of Lot 49 (secret conspiracies/paranoia) and mixing them w/ 70s culture. For me it just fizzles out by the end, especially Sportello's relationship with his main antagonist. Then again, even minor Pynchon is better than most fiction out there.

Just finished The Bone Clocks. Just started Leckie's Ancillary Sword.

So, Missy as in short for Mistress, as in a new female Master?
Putin on the porch of his hunting lodge, looking across at Alaska with binoculars:
"Hey guys, I can see Sarah Palin's fat ass."
Never met anyone else who read that series. Admittedly it lost me about halfway. Got too dense, maybe.
I read that Wingrove is fixing (in the new reissues/rewrites) the original terrible ending that ruined the DeVore character.
Golem and Jinni is one of my favorite recent books.
Anyone else connect the two characters to the Thing and Torch from Fantastic Four? I got a vibe of the early 20th century Jewish experience in New York that led to the creation of the superhero pantheons we received from mostly Jewish creators.
Perhaps another…
