QVCK is the Equivocator of Equivocators around here; the King of “Well, actually”; the “Ally” who actively brings you down while expecting full marks for allyship; he sucks in myriad ways. Also, very possibly a troll, though a really convincing one.
My issue is this.
We here in Canada will take Alaska off their hands for 30 gallons of pure maple syrup and three moose.
So GlobalBeet asked you to cite your sources for the assertion that Trump is doing what people in Washington have been doing for years. But “NOWHERE” did you suggest or imply that Emanuel or any of the other used the tactics Trump and his people are using now.
Look, it’s one thing to continue to send your adult grandchildren $5 or give them candy or fawn over them like babies. It’s another to be touching their bodies. This is not like gentle back scratches or pats on the head. This is absolutely about thinking that there’s something inherently funny in humiliating someone.…
The fact that you’re “flummoxed” that some of us are (rightly) concerned that you are conflating sexualization with infantilization is weirding me out.
I’m not going to worry about texting people at night. I think you should be able to understand you settings well enough to twilight people who you don’t want to be able to get hold of you at night (mine allow anyone through if they call twice in a row). I have all my texts on silent because I only want to see them…
Pointing out that the one aspect of your analogy that doesn’t match is the most critical point of the debate is.....not exactly confrontational.
“I don’t know why you’re making this about Emanuel”
Well, those are indeed links that are connected to real articles. But neither of them say anything about Rahm Emanuel threatening economic damage against anyone’s state.
I think the difference is that he’s not just threatening the politicians. He’s threatening the PEOPLE of that state, in public. It’s pretty terrifying stuff.
Rahm Emanuel is a prick, no doubt about that, but I hope you can discern the difference between lobbying lawmakers for votes, which is par for the course, and hinting at punishment for the state of an uncooperative lawmaker after the vote has been tallied. You do understand the difference don’t you?
Barack Obama had Rahm Emanuel threaten officials of states whose representatives didnt vote the way he wanted to? Cite your sources please
I’m from Maine originally, although I no longer live there. If Donald comes for Susan Collins, he’s only going to make her more popular. The only way he could threaten her is to cut her support from a certain subset of Republican voters, while making her more popular among independents and Democrats.
One word: woman.
You know, when Trump first proposed his Muslim ban all those years (oh god, no, it’s only been MONTHS) ago, I was calling my reps (David Joyce in the House and Portman in the Senate - I didn’t feel the need to call the two Democrats) and one of the things I said was that if they let him run roughshod over them, he’d…
“letting them know the vote had put Alaska’s future with the administration in jeopardy,”
It’s a little weird to single out Murkowski, given that every amendment was voted down by numerous Republicans. I’ve lived in Alaska, and I doubt the people there are going to be happy that Donald is threatening them.
