The A-10 was specifically designed with intrinsic “countermeasures” against ground fire. The pilot’s “tub” of armor, vertical stabilizers that obscure the engines, good low speed maneuverability, etc.

Well written. I am actually quite sick to my stomach after reading this article; it’s one thing to find out about a wrong done during a four-year term, it’s another for it to have had the long-term lasting ramifications existing to this day, so engrained in the fabric of society. It’s just disgusting.

I have two major takeaways from this:

Those ferries are going a much longer distance. Take a peak at Gmap for the Puget Sound area. The ferry rides are typically 30 to 40 minutes. Not long enough to justify larger, seaworthy boats.

I’m not a pilot either. However, it appears as if the real culprit of the hard impact is gravity. If the earth had less mass the impact wouldn’t have been as severe.
