Well, I know I feel safer here in this shining city on the hill, this beacon of freedom, this safe harbor for the wretched and yearning, this symbol that if you work hard you can achieve anything!
“No one makes a list of the best 64 or 96 players at any position and just hands out jobs. It doesn’t work that way. Back-half-of-the-roster jobs usually come down to fit.”
Yeah anybody who deals with corporate hiring knows “just not a good fit for our culture here” is the default euphemism for someone you don’t want…
I mean, they’ve got a logistics employee who just went online and basically said “we can’t beat the shit out of a random senior citizen? I guess we’ll have to cancel that flight...”. They seem to be working with a “good enough” mindset at the best of times.
As someone working airline logistics, you should do your fucking job so these situations get avoided in the first place.
As a paying customer of an airline, it is not my responsibility to make sure the airline has their bases covered. Give me a break.
Maybe the airlines should do a better job of managing their own goddamn logistics? Ever think of that maybe?
You actually took the time to write that. This comment really happened.
As a passenger, I hope people remember that airlines need to manage their own shit and not ask paying passengers to do it for them.
Boy, you are incredibly stupid.
I hope your Jill Stein vote still feels righteous.
has no compunction about putting boots on the ground (see Iraq War)
Nope. She’s survived over two decades of needless Republican abuse and investigations and they’ve uncovered NOTHING of substance. Is she perfect? Of course not. Is she a decent person who’s devoted her life to public service and cares about the public good, more so than Donald Fucking Trump? Unequivocally, yes.
“Also, Clinton would have whole-heartedly continued the Wall Street-centric neo-liberal policies of the last 40 years and expanded on economic inequality while also pushing for austerity to win over conservative voters.”
Even granting all this, Trump is worse in all of those criteria. He is more hawkish (other than toward his daddy Russia), he’ll be far more friendly to Wall Street interests than Hillary would have, and is proposing massive tax cuts for the rich while slashing social programs for the rest of us.
She’s an intelligent person who has spent the majority of her adult life in public service. In terms of virtue and decency, she wouldn’t have much competition from the vast majority of former presidents, low a bar as that might be.
I mean, the wealth gap had begun to narrow under Obama, albeit not nearly as quickly as progressives would like, but assuming she more or less stayed the course with Obama’s economic plans and team, I don’t see any reason to believe that things would have cratered economically.
“Lastly, I don’t think any person would have chosen Hillary as a paragon of virtue and human decency.”
I don’t disagree with any of those things, but it’s like comparing your least favorite ice cream with a waffle cone full of bloody diarrhea. You might not like either one, but there’s a clear right choice.
I don’t think any reasonable person doubts that those things would be far less likely under Clinton.
